The world of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure focuses on the Joestar family for far too long. It is, after all, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, so it makes sense that this titular adventure would follow Jonathan Joestar and his descendants. However, once you’ve caught up to Part 4: Diamond Is Unbreakable , you start to see that there’s more to the world of JoJo than just one family and a cursed bloodline. Josuke Higashikata , Part 4’s protagonist, starts to take a back seat while his pals and acquaintances step into a more central role. The growth of the initially shy Koichi Hirose into the confident and assertive young lad we see at the beginning of Part 5 is emblematic of that shift. Koichi is, arguably, more of a protagonist than Josuke ever was, with more of the traditional shounen story beats associated with him as opposed to the rest of the cast. This was where it became clear that the world of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure deserved to be explored further, away from the Joestar family - and with Netflix’s Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan , we finally get just t   The first sections of the game are pretty basic as far a WRPG shooters go with introducing the gameplay and characters, but it is still a bore and tends to drag for the first few hours. After a few more areas of the map open up and cooler guns unlock, the game starts to look more like the Borderlands fans have come to know and l   Considered by many one of the most iconic indie RPGs ever, Undertale is deserving of the praise it receives as a truly wacky video game. Choices and dialogue options are the most engaging aspects of the game and players will often find themselves second guessing every option they cho   The B.O.S.S. is an optional challenge that Team Snakemouth can take on in the Bee Kingdom. Players can replay any boss they previously fought, but the real challenge lies in completing the full boss rush or mini-boss r   Should you opt for a pure good and angelic route, your character will literally develop a halo as the game progresses, with NPCs reacting to you in a more pleasant manner. If you decide on an evil and diabolical route, be prepared to sprout horns instead. NPCs will want nothing to do with you, sometimes even cowering in fear as you walk by tLet’s also remember that Fable 3’s dog companion extends far beyond the contemporary "Can you pet the dog?" phenomenon that seems to have been adopted as a marketing tactic for new and upcoming games. In Fable 3 you can teach your dog tricks, and 30 seconds later it will rip an enemy’s throat out. This disparity is par for the course for Fable 3, which is a game that seems to have amassed every existing genre into its massively hodgepodge makeup. Fable 3 is The Sims. Fable 3 is Dishonored. Fable 3 is Grand Theft Auto. You can use your magical affinity to protect innocent people from hordes of vindictive monsters, or you can pump the rent prices in Aurora up so high that people can’t even afford to buy vegetables in the worst place on earth. You can marry someone, absorb their assets, and then file for immediate divorce. They won’t be happy about it, and the game’s morality system will have its due impact on you — but you can do it. It’s a life simulator, a fantasy RPG, a tycoon management game, a rom-com, and every single thing in between. Sometimes it’s too much — how do you even begin to reconcile all of that in a coherent way? But most of the time it’s actually genuinely smart. It’s just not Fable 2, and people — including 14-year-old me — hated that.   Every WRPG is their own entity and follows their own set of rules and some tend to have slower starts with tedious introductions as a result. While not every game can be a slam dunk from the beginning, some find their groove as the story progresses and the gameplay tight   The bounties all lead to optional bosses. In true RPG fashion, these encounters are typically tougher than the ones Team Snakemouth had to undertake in the main story. Defeating all of these bosses is necessary to complete the bestiary and get one step closer to 100% complet   Another game that's had its fair share of development issues, Skull and Bones generated plenty of excitement for its potential appearance at Ubisoft's E3 2021 showcase, but just last month the publisher announced another delay for the project. Because of the timing of the announcement, it seems like Ubisoft wanted to get ahead of the rumors surrounding Skull and Bones ' appearance at E3 and temper expectations. The publisher has plenty of other underrated role-playing games to talk about for its show, but it's a shame that it seems its highly anticipated pirate adventure won't be one of them. Skull and Bones has been pushed back to 2022 or 2023, so there's still much to be seen before the game finally releaFable 3 is ten years old today. It’s not as good as Fable or Fable 2 — if you’ve read this far, you’ll know that isn’t the argument I’m making. The argument is that Fable 3 is an oddly unique game. Ten years later, I’ve yet to see anything remotely like it, and I think you’d be hard pressed to find something that is more unanimously ambitious than it is. Yes, there have been more impressive art styles. Yes, I’m sure another game has a far better skill system. But as a whole, nobody ever told the people making Fable 3 that actually, what they were doing was a bit too much. Actually, maybe more is not better. Actually, we can have property management and an entire monarch simulator lapped onto the end of an industrial revolution/medieval fantasy hybrid RPG, but come on. Do we really need full animations for baking pies and dog tricks? "Of course we do," came Lionhead’s resounding response in my imagination. "Otherwise it wouldn’t be Fable."
